Branches of Power

South Africa
Middle and High Schools

When one considers that South Africa is home to the Cradle of Humankind, it’s not hard to envision African power as a tree in the bushveld with multiple branches reaching out up to the beating sun.

The theme “Branches of Power” explores local and global power dynamics through four topics: the significance of power dynamics between South African ethnic groups, the power of nature by exploring the power of animals in the African wilderness, the power crisis and rolling blackouts in the country, and the power of art through the eyes of South African artists.
