Our Programs >> Online Global Learning >> Arts & Social Science

Intercultural competence is a crucial global skill that helps individuals to understand, approach, and engage with different aspects of cultures.

This option provides a basic theoretical framework for students to develop a nuanced understanding of culture, which is essential for real-world interactions with people of diverse cultures, ethnicities, languages, and worldviews. The sessions can cover various components of intercultural competence, including cultural self-awareness, knowledge of other cultures, verbal and non-verbal communication, and attitudes of curiosity, openness, empathy, and respect. The learnings can be situated within the context of one or more African countries. EDU Africa encourages the participation of guest experts, community partners, and Africa-based students to promote diverse stories and perspectives and encourage more effective intercultural communication.
