Uganda, a vibrant nation, is characterized by a rich tapestry of culture and heritage.

Students will have the opportunity to learn about the country’s ancient kingdoms, colonial legacies, and contemporary expressions of cultural identity through interactive workshops, cultural performances, and visits to historical sites and museums. Additionally, they will explore the role of music, dance, art, and storytelling in preserving and transmitting Uganda’s cultural heritage from generation to generation.

Learning Outcomes

The curation of this program option incorporated the learning outcomes listed below. However, specific learning outcomes and activities can be constructed in collaboration with our dedicated curriculum development team to create a customized program.

By the end of this program, students should be able to:
  • Engage empathetically with diverse cultural practices and heritage
  • Recognize the role of diverse cultural practices in fostering mutual understanding and international solidarity
  • Enhance their self-awareness and understanding of how diverse cultural practices shape individual and collective experiences
  • Analyze and articulate the intricate ways in which Uganda’s historical, artistic, and cultural traditions have shaped and continue to influence its contemporary cultural identity
  • Develop and implement culturally sensitive strategies for engaging with and promoting cultural heritage
