This program was designed to familiarize students with the intricacies of the Okavango Delta.

During the nine-day program, participants will take part in interactive learning activities to enhance their knowledge of biodiversity and the significance of conserving vulnerable ecosystems. Students will explore the wide variety of species that inhabit the delta and gain an understanding of the innovative conservation methods being utilized to maintain the delicate equilibrium of the region. Additionally, they will also learn about the challenges that conservation initiatives in the area face.

Learning Outcomes

The curation of this program option incorporated the learning outcomes listed below. However, specific learning outcomes and activities can be constructed in collaboration with our dedicated curriculum development team to create a customized program.

By the end of this program, students should be able to:
  • Identify and discuss how local communities and conservation strategies intersect
  • Apply their understanding of the Okavango Delta’s biodiversity and conservation challenges to advocate for sustainable environmental practices and global conservation efforts
  • Reflect on their values and actions regarding biodiversity and conservation
  • Synthesize complex information about biodiversity and innovative conservation strategies
  • Apply the knowledge gained in their future careers to design and implement effective conservation projects
