This is an opportunity for a comprehensive learning experience that explores the diverse landscape and wildlife of Namibia, while also highlighting its agriculture, conservation, and rich socio-cultural makeup.

Participants will develop the knowledge and skills necessary to understand the sustainable development of agriculture in Namibia’s arid and desert regions. They will also be able to identify issues from an applied global perspective and engage in activities that will encourage them to foster intercultural competence, intellectual growth, global citizenship, personal growth, and professional development.

Learning Outcomes

The curation of this program option incorporated the learning outcomes listed below. However, specific learning outcomes and activities can be constructed in collaboration with our dedicated curriculum development team to create a customized program.

By the end of this program, students should be able to:
  • Explore and understand the cultural heritage of Namibia and its influence on agricultural practices
  • Reflect on the effects that environmental challenges have on communities in Namibia and other countries
  • Reflect on personal growth and transformation
  • Recognize the competitive value of the ecological knowledge produced in Africa
  • Identify the factors that contribute to successful farming in an arid and desert environment
